Smart Battery Sense for Victron MPPT solar chargers is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for AGM, GEL and Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries.
With this sensor, the battery voltage and temperature of the batteries are transmitted wirelessly to Victron SmartSolar solar charge controllers. This data allows the batteries to be charged better and the charging efficiency improves, which benefits the lifespan of the batteries.

Battery temperature data is used to adjust the charging voltage. Cold batteries require a higher charging voltage, and warm batteries require lowering the charging voltage. For lithium systems, this sensor is a "must have", because LiFePO4 batteries should not be charged when they are too cold. Charging lithium batteries at or below freezing will cause permanent damage to the cells.

The information can be used simultaneously via Bluetooth by multiple solar charge controllers connected to the same battery bank. The free VictronConnect app can be used to read the information and set up a VE.Smart network. With the VE.Smart network, all products in the same network can wirelessly share data with each other.

The installation is simple. Attach the Smart Battery Sense sensor directly to the battery housing using the adhesive strip and connect the two cable eyes to your battery connections.
